The PerfBloc Relay layer occupies a central position in the stack of the blockchain platforms it serves- all peers in a P2P network communicate using the networking layer. Attacks to compromise thesafety and liveliness guarantees of blockchains by exploiting the networking layer already existunder certain conditions. Its important that PerfBloc does not significantly weaken the conditionsto make such attacks viable. In the following sections we discuss some guarantees that blockchainolatforms usually provide, ways in which an attacker can attack PerfBloc to harm PerfBloc or thelatforms that use it followed by an exposition of counter-measures incorporated into PerfBloc tomake it resistant to such attacks.
